About the Founder
April Centrone is a performer, composer, educator, producer and filmmaker, and co-founder/creative director of the New York Arabic Orchestra. Her extensive career in Arabic music education includes her work with numerous NGOs in the Arab World, the U.S. Embassy of Malaysia, Carnegie Hall World Explorers, Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Connect, and Paul Simon’s Music Fellowship, and has led master classes and workshops at universities around the world.
As a drummer and percussionist, April has performed with Arab icons, Ziad Rahbani, Marcel Khalife, Bassam Saba, Saint Levant and Emel Mathlouthi, and with Secret Chiefs 3 on tour with Primus. She has made appearances at Coachella, Governor’s Ball, Summerfest, Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, GlobalFest NYC, Taipei Chinese Orchestra International Silk Road Conference, Beirut Jazz Festival, New Zealand World Music Festival, Festival Musicas Do Mundo in Portugal and Marciac Jazz Festival in France, and venues such as United Nations Assembly Hall, David Geffen Hall, Detroit Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall and the NYC Opera House.
As a composer and recording artist, April participated as percussionist and producer for Ubisoft’s 2023 soundtrack release of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage video game, and is co-composer for the upcoming Disney+/National Geographic Documentary Attack of the Red Sea Sharks. In Spring 2024, April will release singles from her new album, Phoenix, featuring her on Arabic percussion, drumset, oud, saz, buzuq, violin and guitar.
Founder/CEO of 10PRL film production studios, April produces, directs, writes and composes music for various projects. She shares 10PRL Productions with her partner, Kira Sanchez, specializing in commercial work, narrative film, music videos and events.
